Fans of Chef Gabriel Pascuzzi’s pop-up Cereal Bowl restaurant have something to feel good about—Feel good is now a brick and mortar restaurant selling crisp, colorful cereal and veg bowls on SE Belmont Street. The take-out restaurant is Pascuzzi’s third, after Stacked Sandwich Shop and the wood-fired chicken restaurant Mama Bird.

The Oregonian reported last Friday than the recent Excellent chef Eater PDX 2017 nominee and chef of the year opened the doors to Feel Good in its new 450 square foot space. Sadly, the restaurant suffered a speed bump this morning – although it’s the first official opening day, Pascuzzi says it’s being delayed until tomorrow thanks to a burglary. At some point in the past few days, individuals broke into the store and stole an iPad, POS system, and a chef’s knife bag, in addition to other random items like water. coconut, a bag of dirty laundry, an ink pad for stamping paper bags and a single plant. “The flight of the plant seems a bit personal,” says Pascuzzi.

However, the store will officially open tomorrow. Feel Good specializes in bowls made with cereal, cauliflower rice or mixed greens topped with grilled and raw vegetables, dressings and herbs. Customers choose the base and toppings – four established bowls will stay, with a seasonal fifth rotating every few months. Diners can also choose from a build-your-own bowl, selecting vegetables, homemade dressings and sauces, and herbs like sumac, bee pollen, furikake, and pickled mustard seeds.

Although mostly plant-based, diners can add poached chicken, with tofu and avocado as other options. The emphasis is on sourcing locally, Pascuzzi working with local suppliers and producers like Ota Tofu, Mary’s Chicken, Jacobsen Salt and Sauvie Island Growers. There are a few stools in the small space, but Pascuzzi says these are mostly for waiting at the moment, with service being almost entirely take-out.

Pascuzzi originally designed Feel Good in May 2020 as a pop-up operating out of its first restaurant, Stacked. Like many other decisions last year, this was a pivotal point due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, the price and supply of meat made many of Stacked’s sandwiches unavailable, but Pascuzzi wanted to continue providing healthy, comfort food to her customers, while keeping the doors open at Stacked. The plan was still to reopen the sandwich shop and move Feel Good to its own location.

Starting Thursday, August 26, diners can visit the Small Takeout Shop Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1120 SE Belmont Street.
