SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Northwestern FFA welcomes Emily Schmitz as new agricultural education teacher. Schmitz, who grew up in New Western, Ohio, and was involved in 4-H and FFA, is a student at the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute.

The chapter also held an officers’ night retreat for the first time in three years. The three-day event included bonding with the team of officers and planning for the school year. Officers also picked up trash on State Route 302 for the Adopt A Highway program, set personal goals, and participated in team activities.

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio – The Hillsdale FFA Chapter hosted their annual summer picnic on August 22, with 35 members and their families gathered for a potluck to celebrate the end of summer and the start of a new school year.

Chapter officers planned and conducted relationship building activities for officers and other members. Freshman Dylan Fickes and junior Jake Hoverstock won the cornhole tournament.

COLLINS, Ohio – Members of the Western Reserve FFA recently attended the 100th annual Huron County Fair. Projects run by members ranged from animal husbandry and tractor restoration, welding and woodworking.

Chapter President Holden Nuhn was the King of the Fair’s first attendant and won the Best of Show award for still image exhibitions. Vice President Katie Woodruff was the first hog exhibitor at the junior fair and placed third in the showman of showmen competition.

Treasurer Colton White won first place with a weld project at the fair. Journalist Joselyn Charville took home the award for the most creative carpentry project and came home with a first place and two seconds with her horse.
